56 Year-Old Woman Swims from Africa to Trinidad
A 56-year-old American woman recently made an attempt to fulfil a dream she has had since the early 1960s – to swim across the Atlantic Ocean.
Jennifer Figge, of Aspen, Colorado, left the Cape Verde Islands, off Africa's west coast, swimming 19 out of 25 days, battling waves of up to nine metres until she reached the island of Chacachacare, off Trinidad. The distance from Cape Verde to Trinidad is about 3380 kilometres although Ms Figge did rest intermittently, on-board the yacht that accompanied her. more
